What Should You Look For In A Kettle
If you’re looking for a kettle, the first thing you need to think about is how much water it can boil. Different kettles have different water capacities, so it’s good to get one to suit your needs. If you simply need a kettle for make a few cups of tea, then most kettles will be suitable. If you need to boil larger amounts of water for whatever reason however, it’s best to get a higher litre capacity one.
Another things you should consider when buying a kettle is the functionality. Do you want it to turn off as soon as it has stopped boiling? Do you want a cordless kettle so you can move it around easily once it’s boiled? Do you want a classic looking or designer kettle? These are all things you should thing about when buying a kettle, so bare them in mind.
Kettle Comparisons
There are many different types of kettle on the market, so we thought we’d compare kettles available to you so you can decide which one is most suited to your needs:
Electric Kettles
Electric kettles are the more modern kettles. They are, as the name suggests, powered by electricity and generally boil water faster then hob kettles. They also turn off automatically once the water is boiled, meaning that they won’t ever boil out dry.
Hob Kettles
These are the more classic type of kettle that have been used to effectively boil water for many centuries. They were originally placed over a fire to heat up the water that it contains, and they pretty much work the same way today.
Hob kettles, also know as stove top kettles, are filled with water and placed on your hob until the water boils. Many of these stove top kettles make a whistling sound when your water is boiled so you know to turn off the heat. Many also have a heat proof handle so you don’t burn yourself when handling the it.
People often get a hob kettle due to their authentic design and their homely nature. If you want a cheap kettle though, you’re better off going for an electric one as they often sell for less. Having said that you can still get some good stove top kettle deals.
Cordless Kettles
A cordless kettle is ideal for some as it allows you all the privileges of a electric kettle but it also detaches from it’s cord when you want it to. This is handy if you want to bring your boiling water elsewhere without the cord dangling off.
So Which Is The Best Kettle?
For me the top kettle has to be the cordless kettle. If it’s convenience you’re after (You kettle automatically turning off after it boils, no wires to get in the way etc) this will also be suitable for you. If you’re more after something that will look good in your master piece kitchen however, a hob kettle may be the best kettle to buy.
